Fillers

Fillers are an interesting beast, they are everywhere, but are often treated with scorn.

If you have a corporate blog, how often are you updating it? Does your newsletter have enough sound bite content? It the magazine you are about to publish lacking “continuity” between articles? Or is their simply not enough advertising so you need to fill a gap.

The purpose of fillers are varied and extensive. Anything from a single sentence or a “filler article” of several hundred words, they can take many forms.

Here are a few:

“Spam is a big problem for most sites. Adding your email can be hazardous to your inbox. Simply changing your email to name [at] yourdomain.com with it linking to your contact form can reduce the robot based spam to your inbox substantially.”

“If your child has a dry and croaky cough, cough mixture often does not work. To help the little ones sleep at night, simply put a wet towel with a few drops of lavender on your heater. Make sure it’s an oil heater though, not gas or fan etc. The moisture helps open the lungs while still keeping the room warm.”

“If your mobile phone keeps losing it’s charge too quickly, don’t keep it in your pocket if you are at your desk. Stand it upright. Heat reduces the battery life.”
